Hello World!

Tomten Studios (I know, real original) is a lone endeavor for a new and unique independent software company currently focused on game development. What makes Tomten Studios unique is that we have NO development costs. I use free and open source APIs and libraries to develop with and free music and some art released under the creative commons licence. Additionally, I am paid nothing. I develop because I like to do it.

Updates in a Week or Two

Well I finished my pre deployment training and I am on my way overseas. I will be able to get back into a routine and will have plenty of time to work on BMTG3, even with the 5 classes I am taking. So both of you reading this can look forward to some updates to the game shortly.

What feature would you like to see next in BMTG3?

Slow Going

Well, it has been slow going lately. I have had the flu and been pretty busy with work and the family so not much has been done on the BMTG3 front. So I am kind of taking another development break I guess. Don't fret though I will be back at it again shortly. In the meantime feel free to post comments and send any suggestions you may have.

Home Finally

I am finally back home and getting things back in order after being away for about 2 months. I am continuing to work on getting local multiplayer up and running, getting the user interface polished up a bit and cleaning up code and increasing efficiency. I will post somthing when I have something new and cool.

Nothing New

Well, I haven't had a whole lot of time to work on BMTG3. I will get back to it soon, this class is taking up a lot of my time. The good news is I got an iPod Touch so look for a port to the iPhone and Touch!

Sidetracked

Well, I am deviating a little from my plans. I started trying to work out all the bugs on the versus mode. I am getting close. Anyway, I am in FL at a class and Internet is at a premium. I will do my best to keep you updated.

BMTG3 Update

I finished a big part of the input and interface rewrite and posted the windows binaries for your pleasure. I added some pop up warnings and messages to the game and I also built in a proper unit purchasing and taxing system. Now, you cant just run huge deficits and continue to put out troops. Check it out in the Projects/BMTG3 page.

New UI & Input

Well, I completed some work this weekend. I realized that my UI and Input framework was sloppy. So I gutted it all and am rewriting from scratch. Now everything is nice and isolated. I just need to finish implementing a few features and design a decent UI for the game.

Long Weekend

With Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday I get to enjoy a nice 3 day weekend (one of the reasons I like my job so much... federal holidays). I will most likely plan out development on Blood Makes the Grass Grow Green up to beta and get started. There is still a lot to do and I need to sit down and think about my course of action. As I have learned from previous failures in large projects, planning makes all the difference. Anyway, expect some nice new stuff on BMTG3 soon. That is if my World of Warcraft addiction doesn't flare up too much this weekend! :)
